Following another historic showing by the always unpredictable Phillip Sheppard, the Bikal and Gota tribes prepare for a merge on tonight's latest episode of "Survivor: Caramoan." After Phillip's first performance on "Survivor" a little while back, who could've predicted the mouthy and self-interested "federal agent" is still wreaking havoc on Bikal's camp.

After last week's reward challenge where he defiantly placed himself in the front of the conga line of Bikals, ready to prove he could catch Gota who started on the opposite side of the circuit, Phillip is definitely on the hot seat this week. Many will remember how his speed quickly fizzled out as he became the albatross around the neck of the tribal centipede. Gota, not surprisingly, won the trip to have a special dessert on a private island.

Will Phillip, who on his "Survivor" wiki page claims to be most like "Boston Rob" Mariano, be voted out once the entirety of the "Survivor" cast has to deal with his antics? Or will the pattern of voting out the "Fans" continue, as the "Favorites" seem to already be veterans at outwitting, outplaying and outlasting the rookie competition. "Fire represents life," as the "Survivor" mantra goes. Whose flame will be extinguished tonight?

CBS' brief teaser of tonight's episode of "Survivor: Caramoan" offers a glimpse into the possible return of a unique challenge that viewers haven't seen for many a season. It's "a food eating competition!" exclaims host Jeff Probst. However, from the looks of it, the "Survivor" castaways seem none too pleased at what they uncover when they remove the lids of their plates. Of course, Mark Burnett would never share THAT much information in a teaser.

Who can forget the "Wheel of Fortune"-style carousel of creepy-crawlies from the fledgling seasons of "Survivor", with folks like Colby and Tina chowing down on some interesting looking insects and worms. It could be a reprise of sorts for Bear Grylls-esque dietary recommendations, or it could just be some spoiled tripe.

Viewers will have to tune in to find out.

Tonight's eighth episode of "Survivor: Caramoan" airs at 8 p.m., EDT, on CBS.
