On Tuesday night, the Gold family will celebrate the 100th episode of "Hardcore Pawn". It is officially Season 7's fourth episode. "Hardcore Pawn" commenced on December 21, 2009 with the airing of its pilot, and Les, Seth and Ashley have never looked back.
Considered by owner Leslie Gold to be the number one pawnshop in Detroit, and possibly nationwide, none of Gold's family could likely have seen where "Hardcore Pawn" would go. "When the show came out, I would have never thought we'd be so successful," Gold said in a TruTV teaser, attributing the show's success to the fans' support.
"Looking back on past seasons, there are so many fun family times I've had," said Ashley Broad, Les Gold's daughter and manager of American Jewelry & Loan.
On last week's episode, Seth and Ashley were tasked with creating a marketing campaign to increase productivity at the store. Seth scoffed at Ashley's blow-up gorilla she had installed on the roof. Les applauded her effort, saying the primate holding a "Monster Deals" sign was a good idea. However, nobody was prepared for Seth's comeback.
After an enraged customer left exasperated after trying to convince Ashley to quit her job, Ashley greeted Seth in passing, asking "what was that about?" Seth smiled and led her and his father, Les, to the roof of the store. He pointed to a billboard he had installed unbeknownst to his family. The billboard offered a 20 percent discount to any customer that could force Ashley, pictured on the ad, to quit. Looking half like a wanted poster and half like a discount store circular, the sign enraged Ashley, who shouted at Seth.
Eventually, she laughed the ordeal off, and Les led them back to ground level. What could possibly top that contest? Find out tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern on TruTV.
