“American Horror Story” kicked off its fourth season to rave reviews, despite the audience at the “Freak Show” being so few. Tonight for episode 2 “Massacres and Matinees” fans will once again be treated to a 90-minute episode, series creator Ryan Murphy confirmed this news via Twitter, writing, "Because we love our FREAK SHOW fans, next week's episode is also 90 minutes... just like the premiere! Wait until you meet Michael & Angela!"
The “Michael and Angela” mentioned in the tweet are series regulars, Michael Chiklis and Angela Bassett, who were notably absent during the Season 4 premiere episode. Basset, who became an AHS regular during Season 3’s “Coven” will leave her character of New Orleans voodoo queen Marie Laveau behind in favor of a more freakish role, Desiree Dupree. Desiree Dupree is a performer in the freak show, and will most certainly be gaining the attention of the male residents of Jupiter, mainly due to her three breasts. However, her husband Dell Toledo, portrayed by AHS new comer Chiklis will certainly have something to say about that, not to mention he is the freak show’s resident strong man. In addition to Desiree and Dell’s marriage, there are even more familial ties within the freak show community. The couple arrival in Jupiter will most certainly have an impact on Ethel Darling, the bearded lady and ex wife of Dell and also Jimmy Darling who is the couples son and famed “Lobster Boy.”
Another focus of episode 2 “Massacres and Matinees” will be on the truly terrifying character of “Twisty the Clown” who showed his particular set of skills in the premiere episode. Murphy took to Twitter again to reveal some more information about the forthcoming episode, but this time it was about “Twisty” and what exactly is hiding underneath that disturbing mask. Murphy wrote, “Tomorrow, you will see what Twisty is hiding beneath that mask.” Be sure to watch the second episode of Season 4 of “American Horror Story: Freak Show” tonight at 10 pm on FX, or you can watch “Massacres and Matinees” online for free via livestream at FX.com!
