Arcade Fire has released their new music video for "Afterlife" from their latest album "Reflektor." The clip was directed by Emily Kai Bock, who has also done videos for Grizzly Bear, Majical Cloudz and Grimes. "Afterlife" follows a Latino family, a father and his two sons as they deal with life after the death of their wife and mother. The video opens with the father selling flowers on the streets trying to provide for his family, with the next scene having all the men having dinner and praying before eating. You can feel the emptiness in their lives as they struggle to communicate with each other, with the youngest son being corrected by the father to speak in Spanish instead of English and the oldest son being denied to go to a friend's house because their home is too far and the father is tired.

The woman that held the family together is deeply missed and we see the three men try to deal with her loss. The youngest son is dreaming of being in a laundromat and being trapped inside a drying machine. The eldest son is seen at a party, having passed out in the yard, then seeing a family during a baptism and a bus ride home with his head laying on his mother's lap. All of these sequences mix their reality and what they are dreaming of. The most touching part of the video is when the father has a dream of a high school dance and meets up with the woman he fell in love with and truly misses. This is the moment where you will need to reach for your box of tissues to dry your face off. The clip runs under 8 minutes and it's a video to watch.
