Shakira recently paid a visit to María Celeste Arrarás at her show "Al Rojo Vivo," and just on the day of the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony the singer was sitting down with the journalist to give her an exclusive interview in which she finally talked about her love life. Shakira’s usually very private when it comes to her relationship with Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué, but this time around, she was a bit more candid and shed some light in some topics we all had been dying to know.

The singer started off saying that her heart is divided, since she’s supporting both Spain, because Piqué is playing with his country, and Colombia, the singer’s native land. She was very excited about Colombia being in the World Cup and is sure they’ll do great. María Celeste then asked her about recent rumors published by a British publication claiming she wasn’t allowed near Piqué during the World Cup because she could take away a lot of much needed energy.

“No, no, no. That is false, but I suppose you mean “extracurricular” activities. Eh, well, in that sense, of course, you have to respect his concentration, because otherwise it would not be so good.” She added that all “celebratory” activities marking the 4th year anniversary of when they met are not allowed during the World Cup. Arrarás took the opportunity to ask about the time the two met, to which Shakira only said “It was very magical.”

To María Celeste’s insistence, the singer revealed a little more: “Yes, it was very magical. I can’t tell you many details in front of the cameras, but what I can say is that in 2010, during the World Cup, he said: ‘I’ll win this World Cup so we can see each other in the final match,’ and he won.” She also said that Piqué promised her something else: “I also remember that when we started going out he said, ‘For the next World Cup we’re going with our baby.’ And well, he delivered!”

The journalist asked if there were any promises made this year, like a wedding for example, to which Shakira said that there’s still nothing in the works. María Celeste then asked if she saw herself with Piqué for the rest of her life, and the singer replied positively. “Then why hasn’t he proposed yet? I find it hard to believe,” added Arrarás. “Well, we have talked about it,” said Shakira. “But there hasn’t been anything formal. And it’s not like we have time. Just a few months ago I looked like a balloon about to explode, then came ‘The Voice’ and now the World Cup.”

“There’s always something that really stops us from going deep into the idea of planning a wedding,” the singer continued. “I really don’t think it’s that important because we’ve consolidated our family. We’ve created a family that I feel very proud of. We’re very happy and that’s what matters, no?”
