Apple must really be down and out in sales for the new iPhone 5C model. It has been reported that Walmart is knocking the price of the new Apple handset all the way down to only $27 with a new contract. This deal unfortunately is only for the iPhone 5C and not the more popular 5S device. The 5C usually retails for $99 on contract, but for only $27 it might push some people to trade up or upgrade to the new device.
The 5C is Apple's only device to resemble a budget phone. The device is essentially a revamped version of the iPhone 5 with the addition of a colored plastic shell, which include the colors: pink, blue, green, yellow and white. While the 5C doesn't have any new features over the iPhone 5 the 5S features a fingerprint sensor, improved camera modes, and a faster Apple A7 64-bit ARM chip, which again the iPhone 5C lacks.
It has been reported that Apple has had issues moving these devices off retail shelves and part of the problem is that the device is more expensive than many people thought. It is also due to the fact that the iPhone 5C does not have any new features over the iPhone 5. Besides the hardware being less than impressive the iPhone 5C is a great buy for anyone upgrading from an iPhone 4 or 4S and users would be seeing big improvements with the phone for only $27.
Walmart will offer the iPhone 5S with a similar discount but not priced as low and the 5C. The retailer will offer the new iPhone at $127 instead of the normal $199. It is a significant amount off the device and is the same amount as the 5C discount but doesn't really have the same draw as $27. The deal will run from 8 a.m. Dec. 13 to Christmas Eve Dec. 24.
