If you thought Rick and the crew was going to find their way out of out of the zombie apocalypse at the end of Season 4, you were so wrong. "The Walking Dead" which is currently in the midst of it's fourth record breaking season will return to AMC for Season 5 and the zombie killing cast is getting bigger. AMC is looking to rebuild the cast of the original "Walking Dead" series after a tragic massacre in the midseason finale "Too Far Gone," while also creating and casting a spinoff series. A recent post on Acting-Auditions.org revealed that the zombie-infused drama series is looking for actors to being production for Season 5 in early 2014, the casting director's for "The Walking Dead" will be holding auditions in both Los Angeles and Atlanta, where the show is filmed.
The series, which was recently renewed for it's fifth season, has not only received a Golden Globe nominee but also broke a new record on Sunday Oct. 13 with it's Season 4 premiere with more than 20 million viewers. Season 5 will be loosely based on later installments of Robert Kirkman's graphic novels of the same name. AMC president Charlie Collier praised the series in his renewal announcement; This is a show that has erased traditional distinctions between cable and broadcast. Its expanding base of passionate fans has grown every season, most recently -- and most notably -- with the season 4 premiere earlier this month, which broke viewership records for the series and became the biggest nonsports telecast in cable history. On behalf of the incredible team on both sides of the camera, thank you to the fans and here's to more 'Dead.'"
In addition to the continuing and growing success of the series, Kirkman is set to try his hand at another zombie apocalypse story with a brand new "Walking Dead" spinoff series. Kirkman previously teased, the upcoming series "isn't tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page." And while the story is not in line with characters of the iconic graphic novels, the story will still take place in the same world. The spinoff series, which is set to premiere in 2015, will show different parts of the world and different groups of people affected by the world meltdown.
