AMC has tantalized it’s viewers by releasing a 30-second teaser trailer for the return of "The Walking Dead" Season 4, and while fans were left devastated by the midseason finale, it doesn’t seem like life will be getting better for the prison survivors any time soon. The group is divided, with little supplies (if any) and obviously they no longer have a safe haven. As if things can’t get worse, they are grieving and deeply, there was no sign of baby Judith, surprisingly though it seems as if Carl is the strongest one after the brutal attack. Will Rick be passing on the reigns to his young son? Based of his physical appearance in the trailer, and his already questionable mental state, it seem like Carl will have no choice but to become the fearless leader his dad once was.
Along with the midseason return trailer, AMC released a description of the second half of Season 4. "Following the devastating events of the midseason finale, Rick and the group are still reeling from the loss of their home, family and friends. With the destruction of the prison, we see the group of survivors broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else's fate. What was a challenging life behind fences and walls grows that much more perilous and precious as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies and heartbreaking choices. They will have their faith thoroughly tested -- a faith that breaks some of them and redeems others."
In addition to that completely depressing synopsis for the rest Season 4, it seems the “survivors” as Rick describes them in an ominous voice over are exhausted. In this post-apocalyptic world, day in and day our favorite characters from “The Walking Dead” are struggling to stay alive, they are fighting the walkers who only continue to multiple, they are fighting the elements, and as we have seen in each season, they are fighting each other. A quick clip in the trailer, so the fierce Michonne slicing down a herd of zombies one by one, and instead of looking elated after the effective slaying, she looks exhausted.
“They've lost the prison, they've lost where they live and where they were building their lives, and they're also separated and have lost each other. They're out in the unknown trying to survive. We're going to be going into some very interesting places with all of these characters and seeing new sides to all of them as they figure out how to survive." Robert Kirkman told The Hollywood Reporter, also revealing that the group has completely moved on from the prison, as it is blatantly no longer an option. It seems that all the survivor not just Rick and Carl and sticking to the Season 4 motto, “Don’t Look Back” but what lies ahead for them may be just as worse. We don’t think conditions will be improving any time soon, but we sure are excited to watch. Check out the new trailer, and be sure to watch when “The Walking Dead” returns for the second half of Season 4 on Feb. 9 on AMC.
