After two contestants of "The Voice" were eliminated Tuesday, top 8 will head into next week's live show. The episode started with host Carson Daly announcing that the names of semi-finalists would be shared soon and then he welcomed coaches Blake Shelton, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande.
After the top 10 contestants took the stage, Paris Winningham from Team Blake was announced as safe. Team Ariana’s Jim and Sasha Allen were also safe. This was followed by a performance by the show's season 19 winner Carter Rubin. Then Girl Named Tom from Team Kelly got the happy news about being safe. The next safe artist was Team Blake’s Wendy Moten followed by Joshua Vacanti from Team Legend. Then Team Blake’s Lana Scott and Team Kelly’s Hailey Mia were also saved.
Team Kelly’s Jeremy Rosado, Jershika Maple for Team Legend and Holly Forbes for Team Ariana were in the bottom three. In hopes of getting through to the next round of the competition, Rosado performed “What Hurts the Most” by Rascal Flatts. Shelton said that it was hard to "put together reasoning that makes sense of why people are in the bottom three because… you’re all so talented."
Forbes then sang “Because of You” by Clarkson. Grande called Forbes a “vocal titan” who delivered “perfect vocals," and said that she did not understand how she was in the bottom three. Shelton called every contestant of the show talented, but he said that he figured Forbes would be in the top 5 all along. Then Maple sang “What Is Love?” and impressed Legend.
He told her that he was "stunned that you are in this position because I don’t think you’ve just been one of the best people on my team but you’ve been one of the best people this season." The coach also said that according to him, her instant save performance was her best one so far. After the vote in the Instant Save, Rosado and Forbes were sent home, and Maple qualified for the top 8.
NBC's “The Voice” airs at 8 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.
