A tourist sunbathing on a beach in Hawaii allegedly claimed that she was forced to leave by a mother who told her that her bikini was inappropriate and "in the way" of her view.
Savannah Sims posted a Tik Tok video claiming to have had the "worst" experience after a woman who visited the beach with her boyfriend and kids asked her to leave the place because she didn’t want to see her "butt".
Sims was sunbathing in a two-piece green bathing suit on Hawaii’s Big Island when she says the mother approached her.
"So I just had the worst experience in Hawaii on the big island. I lay down at a spot that's right off the road and this family gets out of their car and sits down kind of close to me," Sims said in the TikTok video.
"And the mum starts saying to her boyfriend, no I can’t have that and that’s not OK with me."
When she asked the mother what the problem was with the bikini, the woman replied the issue was that there were children nearby, Sims claims.
"I look up and she’s looking at me. So I asked if there’s an issue and she says she doesn’t want to be seeing my butt and lady parts," Sims said.
"She said that she wanted me to leave. I was in the way," Sims said. "So I got up and left. And she said, ‘Mahalo’ and it ruined my day."
Sims posted a second video providing an update to the incident. She claimed that the mother was a "hypocrite" as she herself was wearing a "straight thong bikini".
"She is wearing a straight thong bikini. Which is totally fine, I wear those all the time," Sims said.
"To call me out, and then take off your skirt and be rocking G string. Either you’re a hypocrite or it wasn’t about what I was wearing," Sims added.
The video instantly went viral and gathered hundreds of comments expressing support for Sims.
"You should have never left!! Nothing is wrong with what you have on and if she doesn’t want her kids/hubby to see the flesh STAY HOME!!!" wrote one user.
A local added, "We really just don’t like tourists [sic] but this is just wrong. As a local, I am sorry because the local girls do the exact same."
"Don't let one bad apple ruin your vision, there's a lot of Aloha on the islands," another local wrote.
"You should have stayed, put your earphones in, and ignored her," a user commented.
