A groom was caught in a video hitting his bride after she won a game during their wedding toast in Uzbekistan.
In the footage, the newlyweds can be seen on stage at their wedding reception. The toastmaster then starts a competition between the couple. The guests and friends are all cheering and laughing while celebrating the seemingly peaceful wedding. However, as the bride wins the unspecified game, the groom suddenly expresses anger after realizing he was defeated. He horrifyingly strikes her hard on the back of her head using his fist.
The shocked bride pauses for a moment to compose herself before being assisted by two other women off stage. Meanwhile, the groom can be seen still standing on the stage, staring into the crowd. The groom's best man is also standing alongside the groom, seemingly shocked as well. The groom is emotionless, as if nothing had happened.
It is still uncertain what happened after the filming stopped. Uzbekistan has a history of arranged marriages, although these are reportedly less common in today's generation. It is unclear if this was an arranged marriage.
The wedding footage has gone viral on social media, with people reacting angrily on Twitter. "This is so sad," one person commented on the social media platform. "I hope she will find courage to charge him and keep him accountable for his actions."
"What horror!" another wrote. "Good this was out on the internet to shame this horrible man. But I hope she can be taken away from him. How can her parents watch this? What is he some mafia goon? How appalling." Another user commented, "It's horrific how much this is normalized. I hope she gets away from him sooner better than later," while posting three broken-hearted emojis.
In 2019, another similar clip in Uzbekistan caught the public's attention, wherein a groom can be seen lashing out at his bride after she teased him by pretending to take his wedding cake away. The groom hits the unnamed woman with force, making her stumble backward. The shocked guests comfort the bride as she stands back up.
