Former Mexican president Vicente Fox will have his own show on Milenio TV, sources report.
According to Carlos Marín, Milenio’s chief executive officer, the 73-year-old politician will host the new prime time original, “Fox Populi,” which is scheduled to air in June.
In the 13-minute long production, Fox will discuss trending political topics in Mexico and the world with other Milenio TV correspondents.
According to Milenio.com, the former head of state is more than ready to take in the new role and added that his recent contact with millennials has opened his eyes to different points of view, which he is eager to share with the rest of the country.
“Vicente [Fox] will be one of the jewels in our collaborator roster, perhaps the richest one in the Mexican media at the moment,” Marín revealed.
Fox recently gained notoriety in the U.S. for his blunt response to Donald Trump’s campaign proposal to stop illegal immigration, “building a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for.”
“I am not going to pay for this f***ing wall,” Fox reportedly said during an interview with Jorge Ramos on Univision’s “Al Punto.”
He continued, “He is a loud-mouth, an arrogant, an ignorant who has no idea what it is to sit in the chair of the U.S. presidency. To follow a false prophet like Donald Trump, to follow him into the desert without knowing where he is going, is very dangerous.”
The presidential hopeful immediately asked for an apology, which he surprisingly received earlier this month.
“If I offended you, I’m sorry,” Fox said. “But what about the other way around?” he asked suggesting that Trump should probably consider issuing an apology addressed to all the Mexican immigrants he has offended throughout his campaign.
During an interview with US Weekly last June, the real estate mogul denied that possibility when he clarified that he wasn’t planning on retracting his offensive comments anytime soon.
“There is nothing to apologize for,” he mentioned. “Everything I said is correct. People are flowing through the borders and we have no idea who they are, where they’re coming from. They’re not only coming from Mexico, they’re coming from all over South America and the world.”
