Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro condemned Israel for its "indiscriminate attacks" on Palestine's civilian population, following a phone call with his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas, on Sunday.

According to a post by Maduro on X, formerly known as Twitter, Abbas informed him in detail about the development of events alongside "the diplomatic deployment of the Palestinian National Authority as a leadership body, committed to peace, dialogue, and respect for the agreements signed between the parties, which have been systematically unknown by the Israeli side."

Maduro wrote that Palestine and Venezuela agree on demanding an "immediate ceasefire and the establishment of a humanitarian channel of assistance to the population, as well as the re-establishment of international legality," [according to Google translate].

He explained that this should happen through compliance with the resolutions of the United Nations Organization.

Maduro went on to urge the international community and the UN authorities to intervene and bring peace to the Palestinian State, while reaffirming Venezuela's "unconditional support for the Palestinian cause and its Authority, in order to achieve these objectives."

He also gave examples of other countries, including China and Egypt, who were demanding "a large world conference in favor of peace and the re-establishment of international legality, which aim to immediately stop military aggression against civilians. and advance on the definitive path to re-establishing the rights of the Palestinian people."

Maduro further noted that Venezuela will be sending more than 30 tons of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip in order to support the Palestinian people.

Palestinian leader Abbas, on the other hand, said Sunday that militant organization Hamas, based in the Gaza Strip, "do not represent the Palestinian people," Alarabiya News reported.

The Israel-Hamas conflict intensified on Oct. 7 after Hamas launched more than 5,000 rockets into Israel, killing more than 700 Israelis.

Since then, Israel declared its determination to eradicate Hamas completely, before carrying out a massive bombing on Palestinians that killed over 1,400 people and injured more than 6,000, so far, apart from cutting water and electricity supplies to Gaza.
