Diane Young
Saab 900 Turbo Convertible torched for "Diane Young" Vampire Weekend

Indie rock band Vampire Weekend has just released the latest video from its forthcoming album, "Modern Vampires of the City." Titled "Diane Young," the video from Vampire Weekend's latest single features a burning Saab 900 Turbo Convertible that would have been a mint had it not been for the flame engulfing the vehicle.

Without a lot in the shape of plot or premise, "Diane Young," which is likely a play on dying young, only captured the Saab 900 Turbo Convertible burning in slow motion for the entirety of the three-minute long video. Toward the very last quarter of the song, a flickering cameo of a white Saab 900 hatchback also on fire can be identified.

Sad, brilliant, and bold, Vampire Weekend's "Diane Young" specifically references the Saab in his song. Lead vocalist Ezra Koenig sings: "You torched a Saab like a pile of leaves/ I'd gone to find some better wheels."

Is the "you" Ezra is referring to GM, the giant corporation that left Saab for dead? Could it be Victor Muller, the former Saab CEO that mismanaged the company? Be sure to watch the video below and decide for yourselves. Also, check out the lyrics to "Diane Young."

You torched a Saab like a pile of leaves
I'd gone to find some better wheels
Four or five meter running 'round the bend
When the government majors surround you again
If Diane Young won't change your mind
Baby baby baby baby right on time

Out of control but you're playing a role
You think you can go to the eighteenth hole
Well, you flip-flop the day of the championship
Try to go it alone, you roll for a bit
If Diane Young won't change your mind
Baby baby baby baby right on time
Let 'em go
If Diane Young won't change your mind
Baby baby baby baby right on time

Irish and proud baby naturally
But you got the luck of a Kennedy
So grab the wheel, keep holding it tight
'Til you're driving off in the black of the night
If Diane Young won't change your mind
Baby baby baby baby right on time

Nobody knows what the future holds on
Said it's bad enough just getting old
Live my life, they say it's too fast
You know I love the past, 'cause I hate suspense
If Diane Young won't change your mind
Baby baby baby baby right on time
