MTV's hit show "16 and Pregnant" has served as an outlet for teens across the country to see the consequences of being a teen mother. While the show has garnered much success with the parents getting themsleves together for their children, there has been a tragedy. It is being reported that one of the cast members from the show has passed away.
According to E! News, they have confirmed that "16 and Pregnant" star Valerie Fairman has died. Although the cause of death at this time is unknown, Chester County investigators believe that it may have been a drug overdose but they are working around the clock to find out what exactly transpired in her last few hours of life.
The site reports that the former reality star, who has a 7-year-old daughter named Nevaeh Lynn Fairman, has struggled with substance abuse for years, which was documented on "16 and Pregnant." The coroner will conduct toxicology tests to determine the exact cause of death.
Since her debut on the hit show, Fairman has had a few run-ins with the law. In 2015 she was arrested on charges of prostitution. Then 21, Fairman was the youngest of the eight women arrested, the oldest being 54 at the time and the others all in their 20s and 30s. Police said that each was issued a criminal summons for a later court date.
Many of the girls on the show used their celebrity for good and to even grow their careers with the network but Fairman wasn't on the same track. The news is a bitter pill for MTV and cast members of the show to swallow but they are all determined to pay their respects.
After the tragic news broke, MTV reality stars and alumni turned to social media to send thoughts and prayers to Fairman's family. "How incredibly sad. My heart goes out to her daughter and family," Teen Mom 2's Chelsea Houska tweeted.
We would like to give our condolences to the family and loved ones of Valerie Fairman.
