A totaled 2020 McLaren 600 LT — a sports car worth more than $200,000 — was found crashed and abandoned on the side of the road in Washington state following an apparent hit and run incident on Monday, June 20, authorities said.
The sleek and pricey coupe, which boasts nearly 600 horsepower and reaches 60 miles per hour in about three seconds, was practically split in half after apparently crashing into a guard rail along State Road 512 near Tacoma, according to Washington State authorities.
The state patrol is investigating the crash in Pierce County, but hasn’t found its owner, Trooper John Dattilo told The Oregonian/OregonLive.
"This kind of crash happens all the time, where people don’t want to get in trouble so they leave the car behind," Dattilo told the outlet. "But it’s not necessarily common for it to be a $200,000 McLaren, though."
The car, which still had dealership plates, wasn’t reported stolen, Dattilo said.
The state police had tweeted out photos of the destroyed white McLaren early Tuesday morning, with the hope to find its owner.
When a Twitter user asked if there were injuries, Trooper Robert Reyer replied, “We aren’t sure. The driver fled the scene!”
"It was a hit and run collision, so unfortunately we have no details as to the condition of the driver," Reyer tweeted.
Trooper John Dattilo told the Oregonian Wednesday that authorities haven’t found the owner of the car, but learned that its registered owner lives in Washington.
The vehicle was towed away Monday night, the outlet reported.

A similar incident was reported in Birmingham, England, when a driver fled after his £500,000 Ferrari crashed head-on into a row of parked cars.
The totaled red SF90 was found with the bonnet completely ripped off on Hagley Road in Birmingham on May 25.
Shocking photos from the scene showed what is left of the wrecked supercar.
No one was found injured at the scene.
