As the 2013-2014 UEFA Champions League heads into the Round of 16, each of the remaining clubs hope they're preparation time ahead of the highly-anticipated knockout stage proves substantial enough to earn crucial victories moving forward. Eight premier match-ups are set for the tournament's final field, with some of the top leagues across the globe represented in strong manner. Defending champion Bayern Munich is back to defend their title but the Bundesliga giants' task of advancement won't be easy against an Arsenal team that is very much alive for the 2013-2014 Barclays Premier League championship.

While Bayern battles Arsenal, Manchester City opens their elimination slate against Lionel Messi and Barcelona. The La Liga giants have captured four UCL titles in their history but failing to win the tournament since a 3-1 victory over Manchester United in 2011, Barca will surely have an added level of intensity this time around as they look to get back to the top of one of professional soccer's most prestigious leagues. In addition to the aforementioned showdowns, Paris Saint-Germain will meet Leverkusen while Atlético Madrid battles Milan, Zenit takes on 2013 runner-up Borussia Dortmund, Olympiacos tango's with Manchester United, Chelsea squares off with Galatasaray and Schalke faces Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid.

Last season's final between German Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund left fans of the tournament thirsting for more heading into this year's slate. With the match even at 1-1 following tallies by İlkay Gündoğan of Dormund and Bayern's Mario Mandžukić, a major play was needed in order for one of the finalists to claim the title, and Bayern's Arjen Robben answered the bell. Sending one through in the 89th minute, Robben -- who would later be named Man of the Match -- lifted Bayern Munich to their first Champions League title since 2001.
