The Harris County Sheriff’s office is investigating an apparent murder-suicide attempt after two teens were found shot and critically injured inside a Spring residence early Tuesday morning.
Sgt. Greg Pinkins with Harris County Homicide said the shooting happened at a home in the 6900 block of Round Rose Court in the Windrose West neighborhood around 3:30 a.m
According to the sheriff’s office, two boys, both 15 and 17 years old, were found inside the residence with gunshot wounds to their heads.
Both victims were rushed to local hospitals in critical condition. In an update, the HCSO said the 15-year-old was undergoing surgery, while the 17-year-old was not expected to survive.
The teens were listening to music in a room when at some point they both got into an argument, reports said.
Two adult women, who investigators said are the sisters of the 15-year-old victim, said they heard “loud pops” from the boys’ room and walked over to check on them. That was when they found both boys on the ground with gunshot wounds.
Investigators believe the 17-year-old allegedly shot the young victim and then turned the gun on himself.
The exact motive remains unclear at this time.
The victim's family members said they did not hear any kind of disturbance before the gunshots. They said the 17-year-old is a friend of the boy and had been living at their residence on and off for an extended period of time.
The investigation is ongoing with deputies also working to determine how the teenagers got ahold of the gun in the first place.
In a similar incident, a shocking murder-suicide was reported in a friendly neighborhood in Danbury, Connecticut, where a mother battling depression took her own life after strangling her three children to death.
Sonia Loja and her three kids, 12-year-old Junior Panjon, 10-year-old Joselyn Panjon, and 5-year-old Jonael Panjon were found dead in the family’s Whaley Street home last Wednesday, July 26.
The shocking discovery was made by the husband and father, Pedro Panjon when he returned home from work that evening.
Pedro found his son, Junior Panjon, on the floor and daughter, Joselyn on the bed — both with electrical cords around their necks. The youngest boy, Jonael was found in another room, also with a cord wrapped around his neck.
Loja was found hanging in the backyard shed — turned day-care which was under the authorities' radar and forced to shut down after being deemed illegal.
It was later reported that Loja had long battled depression and had been crying for days before deciding to take the extreme step.
