After being drugged on a night out in the Spanish city of Valencia, two male British tourists were allegedly raped.
The alleged victims alerted detectives after waking up in a hotel room after partying. It was near a shopping centre called Nuevo Centro, reported The Sun. The tourists were described locally as two brothers. They allegedly raised the alarm after finding that they had injuries to their private parts that were “consistent with a rape." The two men believed that they had been drugged when they were on a night out. The incident involving the two victims was reported to police on Sunday, and they were examined at Valencia’s La Fe Hospital.
In June it was revealed that cops in the same east coast Spanish city were investigating the rape of an Irish tourist. The 28-year-old victim told detectives that he had been sexually assaulted on the last night of his holiday in Valencia. That incident reportedly took place on June 18 on an old riverbed. Prior to the attack, he had agreed to go for a walk with two men. They were “of Arabic origin with a French accent.”
The victim had met them in the city’s neighborhood of El Carmen. It doesn't seem like any arrests have been made so far. At the time, it was reported that the tourist had told officers that his clothes were torn from him before he was forced to have sex.
The new incident comes as cops around Spain investigate a wave of alleged spiking cases at festivals and in nightspots around the nation.
Mirror reported that on Tuesday, it emerged that Civil Guard officers who are covering the province of Valencia have been made aware of five incidents. They involved needle injections. But it is said that no chemical substances had been found in the complainants’ bloodstreams.
The National Police in Valencia is yet to make any official comment on the latest incident. But the force shared that the two British men are said to have been contacted.
Last month a 53-year-old Spaniard was arrested for trying to rape and then drown a woman at Malvarrosa beach in Valencia. The man had 70 existing police reports filed against him, and was also the subject of two court warrants ordering him to be jailed after committing two violent robberies, reported The Olive Press.
Several people who witnessed the attack on the woman reported seeing a naked man in the sea trying to assault her.
