A turkey frying accident led to a multi-million dollar mansion in Connecticut becoming engulfed in flames on Thanksgiving, local news outlets reported.

Firefighters responded to a report of a garage fire at a home in Weston on Thanksgiving but saw that the fire had spread to the main home by the time they arrived, according to WFSB.

Over the next 16 hours, more than 30 Weston firefighters and dozens of volunteers from neighboring towns worked to extinguish the blaze to no avail, and the $3.8 million home was destroyed.

"The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Weston Fire Marshal, however based on the preliminary investigation it appears the fire began in the garage and was the result of frying a turkey," the Weston Fire Department said in a statement.

No one was injured in the blaze.
