Former US President Donald Trump’s plane reportedly made an emergency landing on Saturday evening., after his speech at a Republican National Committee-hosted donor retreat in New Orleans.
The plane, a Dassault Falcon 900, belonged to a donor at the Saturday event, and it also had secret service members on board apart from staff and Trump advisers. A source said that the aircraft was in the air for between 20 and 30 minutes before one of the engines failed. After that the pilot of the private plane decided to turn around and return to the New Orleans airport, reported Politico.
Trump was flying back to Palm Beach, Florida where he stays at his Mar-a-Lago estate. According to the source, audio of the communications between the pilot and the air traffic control tower revealed that the landing was described as “emergency in nature." But another source disputed that the word “emergency” was used.
According to Daily Mail, a new audio from the cockpit of the jet shows the pilot calmly discussing his return to the airport shortly after takeoff. As per the audio, a female air traffic control officer tells the pilot to try to maintain 2,000. She said, "They said there was a fog blowing in so I'm not sure how it looks for the visual but the airport is off to your right." Then a male voice can he heard saying, "Down to 2,000 and we do have airport for 30 Foxtrot." The pilot then says, "Copy that."
Later, the RNC reportedly found another plane for Trump to use to return to Florida that belonged to a different donor. He reached Florida around 3 am. Hours later, the Trump Save America political action committee (PAC) emailed supporters asking them for funds to build a new plane.
Trump wrote in the mail that he has a very important update on his plane, but he needs to trust that "you won't share it with anyone." The email read that before becoming the "greatest President of all time," Trump traveled the country in his plane, known as Trump Force One." The email further read that his team is building a "BRAND NEW Trump Force One."
Meanwhile, the former President refinanced the mortgage on Trump Tower with a $100 million loan from Axos Bank based in California, reported CNN. According to a new filing, the loan document was signed on Feb. 15 by Trump's son Eric Trump. He and his brother, Donald Trump Jr., have been running the Trump Organization since Trump became president in 2017.
"Trump Tower is one of the most iconic properties in the world and sits on arguably the most prestigious corner in all of New York," said Eric. He added that they have incredibly "low debt, have a tremendous amount of cash and have an extremely profitable company. We had no problem refinancing."
