The White House Spanish-language website’s removal, replaced by a “Go Home” button and a Trump-focused video, has sparked online outrage. whitehouse.gov

The White House quietly updated its Spanish-language website messaging Tuesday afternoon after online backlash over the now-infamous "Go Home" button sparked a social media storm.

The contentious phrase, which initially appeared when users visited the Spanish version of the White House site, has been replaced with a more neutral "Go to Home Page" message. The change occurred following TikTok creator @thespacemechanic's viral video spotlighting the wording.

"For those of us who are immigrants, nothing captures better what went down today than the takedown of the White House website in Spanish that says 'Go home.' That shit is fucking personal," said @thespacemechanic in the video, which has amassed more than 4,000 comments.

The White House Spanish website didn’t just disappear—it left a giant ‘Go Home’ sign on the door. If unwelcoming had a homepage, it’d look exactly like this. It’s like Trump saying, ‘Not only am I not inviting you in, I’m locking the door and tossing the key.’

Users noticed that clicking the "Go Home" button redirected them to a page filled with military imagery, triumphant music, and cinematic visuals of President Donald Trump, culminating in a bold declaration: "America is Back."

Comments ranged from outrage to disbelief. "Omg my jaw actually dropped," one user wrote, while another observed, "The page that had CONSTITUTION is also gone."

The fallout extended across platforms. One X user said, "I just wanna say to whoever designed this that he is the devil."

Another added, "Unbelievably petty!"

Meanwhile, on Reddit, users expressed frustration over the intention behind it. One wrote, "It says go to home page now. Not saying it's impossible they were trying to edgelord at first."

Another criticized, "The whole website is awful now—it's literally a Trump fan site."

The incident coincides with broader immigration policy shifts by the Trump administration, including a declaration to deploy military forces at the border, a suspension of refugee resettlement, and the contentious termination of birthright citizenship.
