Former President Donald Trump on Sunday said he would consider some of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s controversial ideas, including a vaccine ban, if he won the election Tuesday.
Trump also revealed that Kennedy would have a "big role in the administration" if he won. However, he did not specify what role it would be.
"Well, I'm going to talk to [Kennedy] and talk to other people, and I'll make a decision, but he's a very talented guy and has strong views," Trump said, NBC News reported.
Kennedy, who initially ran for president as an independent this year and later dropped out to support Trump, has a history of spreading conspiracy theories and misinformation about vaccines and other public health issues. For instance, he often claims that vaccines cause autism, even though research has disproven this theory for many years.
Last week, during an event in Arizona, Trump said that Kennedy would be working on health and women's health issues, adding, "He can do anything he wants."
According to two sources close to Trump's campaign, Kennedy might also have an important role in addressing "chronic childhood disease."
Kennedy on Oct. 31 said that a Trump administration would try to ban fluoride in water on its first day, saying it's "industrial waste," and claiming it caused health problems like cancer and other diseases.
Trump was questioned about this plan Sunday, to which he replied, "Well, I haven't talked to him about it yet, but it sounds OK to me. You know, it's possible."
Major public health organizations support adding fluoride to water and consider it safe.
Meanwhile, Trump and his team have been vocal about their support for Kennedy and some of his ideas.
Last week, a co-chair of Trump's transition team, Howard Lutnick, praised Kennedy and raised doubts about whether vaccines were "fine."
On a recent episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience," Ohio Senator JD Vance, Trump's running mate, shared his own skepticism about the COVID vaccine.
Kennedy posted a clip from the podcast and wrote, "Thanks @JoeRogan. Yes, we can fix our broken health system and Make America Healthy Again."
