President-elect Donald Trump will be named Time magazine's "Person of the Year" for 2024, POLITICO reported on Wednesday, marking the second time he receives such accolade.
Trump is expected to ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday, the outlet added, quoting three people familiar with the plans who spoke on the condition of anonymity. He was on the short list with other figures such as Vice President Kamala Harris, Elon Musk and Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu.
The president-elect won "Person of the Year" for the first time in 2016 after winning the presidential election. 13 other U.S. presidents, including Joe Biden, have received the recognition in the past.
Other figures to be recognized by Time this year are Caitlin Clark (Athlete of the Year), Elton John (Icon of the Year) and Lisa Su of Advanced Micro Devices (CEO of the Year). Trump was featured on the magazine cover three times this year.
