Former President Donald Trump again unleashed a barrage of critiques against the Biden administration's immigration policies, describing the United States as "a garbage can for the world" due to illegal border crossings. "First time I've ever said 'garbage can,'" Trump said. "But you know what? It's a very accurate description."

It was a new episode of Trump's ongoing focus on unlawful immigration, which has become a stable of his campaign. He has accused migrants of "poisoning the blood of our country," and recounted unfounded tales of them eating people's pets in Springfield, Ohio. Throughout the rally in Arizona, Trump linked the described situation to Vice President Kamala Harris, whom he called "grossly incompetent" and unfit for the presidency.

Trump went on to target President Joe Biden, calling him "a stupid fool," and criticized Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-California) as "crazy as a bedbug." He also took ok California Governor Gavin Newsom as "the worst" and claimed that Colorado Governor Jared Polis was too "petrified" to confront gang violence fueled by migrants. Trump previously promoted debunked claims regarding a Venezuelan gang's takeover of an apartment complex in a Denver suburb.

Despite Trump's assertions , studies indicate that both documented and undocumented immigrants are generally more law-abiding than native-born citizens, and crime rates have been declining across the country. His rhetoric remained consistent during a subsequent rally in Las Vegas, where he expressed confidence in leading swing state polls despite most being within the margin of error. Trump said he expected to be declared the winner on November 5, dismissing concerns that results might not be immediately clear.

His comments drew attention from the Harris campaign, which highlighted concerns about Trump's rhetoric following an interview with former White House chief of staff John Kelly, who warned against a second Trump term surrounded by loyalists. General Kelly joined a chorus of former Trump officials — his former Secretary of Defense, his former top General, and multiple former National Security Advisors — who warn that Americans should take the former president's militaristic impulses seriously, saying he fits the definition of a "fascist."

Addressing the topic of undocumented immigrants, Trump focused on crimes committed by individuals associated with gangs, including the 2016 murders of two girls in Long Island. "We got to get these animals out of here fast, and we're going to be heroes," he said.
