Donald Trump's doctor, Mehmet Oz, has been advising the former President to lose weight, but shortage of time is not helping him slim down.
In a video posted on Twitter, Trump told a crowd, "Can you believe I weigh 208 (pounds)? Now maybe a little more."
Talking about Dr. Oz, who was recently endorsed by Trump in the Pennsylvania Senate race, the former President shared that the medical expert told him to lose weight. But Trump replied saying, "I don't have time to lose weight!"
According to Business Insider, it is not clear what event the former President was speaking at when he spoke about his weight. But it's been reported that he was talking after his rally in North Carolina that happened earlier this month.
Before Trump became the US President, he appeared on Dr. Oz's show and discussed his weight. The doctor noted during the show that at 6 foot 3 inches, and weighing 236 pounds, Trump's body mass index (BMI) was high. Dr. Oz told him that it's probably "close to 30 which is sort of the barrier for most people."
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a BMI of 30 or over falls within the obesity range. Responding to the doctor, Trump said that he wanted to lose 15 to 20 pounds, but found it difficult because of "the way I live." While Trump is not into drinking coffee or alcohol, his love of burgers, fast-food, and ice cream has been well-documented.
In his recent endorsement statement, the former President referenced Dr. Oz's previous comments about his weight while praising him for being "popular, respected, and smart." Trump shared that the doctor even said that he was in "extraordinary health, which made me like him even more (although he said I should lose a couple of pounds)."
Earlier this month, Trump told The Washington Post that his health would play a factor in his decision to run again in 2024 Presidential election. He said that you always have to talk about health, and that you look like you’re in good health, "but tomorrow, you get a letter from a doctor saying come see me again." According to him, that’s "not good when they use the word again."
