As former President Donald Trump works on his 2024 presidential campaign, he is also said to be planning to release a book next year.
According to CNN, the book will showcase his private correspondence with past and present celebrities and international icons. Sources familiar with the matter said the project will mirror Trump’s first post-White House book, a collection of 300-plus photographs from Trump’s time in office that were accompanied by captions he wrote himself. The book will contain reproductions of letters written to, or by, the former President over the last few decades. It will provide readers with a more intimate view into his personal life and past social circles.
Sources said that his correspondence with singer Elton John, late pop star Michael Jackson and late Princess Diana are expected to be included in the book. In a 1997 interview with radio personality Howard Stern that was unveiled during Trump’s 2016 Presidential campaign, he claimed that he got a “really nice” letter from the late Princess of Wales. She thanked him for an undisclosed favor. Trump told Stern that she wrote a letter to him about a "couple of months before she died thanking me ‘cause I did her a favor for something."
According to WMTV nbc15.com, it’s not clear if the book will include letters that Trump exchanged with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. He had previously boasted of his “love letters” with the North Korean leader. Once he declared at a campaign rally that he and Jong Un “fell in love” through their letters.
They were among government documents, including classified ones, that were kept at Mar-a-Lago, Florida after Trump left office. The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has been seeking their return. A special counsel appointed by the Department of Justice is currently investigating Trump for his possible mishandling of the classified documents as well as Presidential records.
Last December, Trump had released a book "Our Journey Together," which featured 300 photographs from his Presidency. They had captions that were reportedly personally written by the former President, as per Independent. The book had grossed $20 million in less than two months after it was released. Aides of the former President said that they expect his next book to be as lucrative as "Our Journey Together," particularly due to it overlapping with his 2024 Presidential campaign. One person close to Trump said that the book sounds like a "money-maker for sure."
