It's freezing in Washington D.C. but online, President-elect Donald Trump is getting roasted following the announcement that his upcoming inauguration will be moved indoors due to weather.

Trump revealed on Truth Social that he will be sworn in and deliver his inauguration address inside the Capitol Rotunda on Monday, citing safety concerns over the extreme cold. Forecasts predict temperatures around 18 or 19 degrees with wind chills making it feel as low as 5 degrees.

"I don't want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way," Trump explained. To accommodate supporters, Trump also announced that Capital One Arena will host a live viewing event and the Presidential Parade, promising to join the crowd there after his swearing-in.

The decision has drawn criticism and ridicule on X, formerly Twitter, particularly given the Republican party's focus on toughness and masculinity.

"The party that wants to bring back masculinity and 'real men' has moved the inauguration indoors 'cause it's too cold," @_sn_n posted.

Others mocked Trump's past rhetoric about expanding U.S. territory:

"Does this mean Trump is rethinking his plan to acquire Greenland and Canada?" @patriottakes said.

"And y'all want to invade Canada?" another user joked.

Some took shots at Trump's past controversies:

"Not the first time a bunch of Trump supporters went indoors at the Capitol," one commenter quipped.

"His latest excuse for small crowds," another added, referencing Trump's history of inflating event attendance figures.

Among comments about the unwillingness of Trump and his supporters—especially the wealthy—to tolerate uncomfortable temperatures, many comments just read, "soft."

"Too soft to be outside in the cold, too soft to lead our country." @AstronautMcCann said.

"Not very 'alpha' of him." @cookoutsessions wrote.

"Americans are freezing in the streets, but oligarchs can't be inconvenienced by standing in the cold for a couple hours," another criticized.

The last presidential inauguration to move indoors was Ronald Reagan's second inauguration in 1985, a record-breaking 7°F day with windchill temperatures as low as -20°.

Despite detractors, Trump maintains that the indoor event will be a "very beautiful experience" for attendees and viewers alike.
