As the election cycle continues to progress, so have crossed accusations between the Trump camp on Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and vice versa. Over the past few weeks, the former president has used his social media accounts to refer to the vice president as "crazy," "lyin'" and "cognitively challenged", among other jabs.

In fact, the Republican candidate has attacked Harris in more than one in every three posts or reposts, according to an AFP analysis of Trump's roughly 1,000 messages on Truth Social during the month of September.

So it perhaps came as a surprise when, during his town hall hosted by Univision, the former president was asked by an attendee to name three positive virtues about Harris. He obliged, not without first saying it was "the toughest question" of the night and making it clear that "he's not a fan" of the vice president.

He first called Harris "a survivor", pointing to the time when she dropped out of the 2020 Democratic primary but still managed to become vice president and, eventually, the party's nominee in this election. He then highlighted the fact that she seems to have "some pretty longtime friendships" and then he talked about the way she handles herself, while also taking a jab at Harris in the process:

"I like the way some of her statements, some of her — . But in another way, I think it's very bad for our country."

In contrast, when the vice president was asked the same question during her Univision town hall in Las Vegas last week, she hesitated saying that she "did not really know him", before eventually point out the fact that she thinks Trump "loves his family."

Despite the temporary pleasantries, The New York Times revealed this week that the former president referred to Harris as "retarded" during a dinner meeting at New York's Trump Tower back in September.
