Alina Habba, President Donald Trump's lawyer who is now serving as Counsel to the President, was chastised for "sympathizing" with influencer Andrew Tate, who has been accused of sex trafficking and rape.

"Nice to meet you. I'm a big fan," Habba said to Tate during a joint appearance on "The Benny Show," a right-wing political podcast.

Tate, who was arrested along with his brother, Tristan Tate, in Romania in 2023 on human trafficking charges and forming a criminal group across the country and Britain to sexually exploit women, then returned the pleasantry.

"I'm a fan. You're the one saving Trump. You're doing more important work than me," Tate stated in a clip circulating on X, to which Habba corrected, "America, not just Trump."

Trump's counselor stated she thinks Tate's anger is similar to the anger the president has for the U.S. and that "the time is now for us to stop being wimps."

"I also have to say I sympathize with you because I think you go through a lot of the same 'show me the person, I'll find the crime' that President Trump has gone through," Habba added while Tate smiled on.

Social media users criticized Habba for "fangirling" over Tate while the trafficking, assault and rape allegations hang over him.

"Habba gushing over a rapist is nauseating and disgusting," one X user wrote.

"USA today, where perverts, rapists, and pedophiles are heroes," another user commented on X.

"There are no words for the depravity of this man and his brother. That Habba is a fan girl tells one a lot about her lack of judgement and moral bankruptcy," another X user wrote.

"'A big fan' ?! Is Habba auditioning for the G Maxwell position," an X user commented, referring to Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted sex offender known for her ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

Tate and his brother were placed on a travel ban and spent several months under house arrest after their December 2022 arrest. Although they remain under criminal investigation in Romania, they were permitted to leave the country. This decision came after members of the Trump administration advocated for the brothers, who are avid MAGA supporters.
