A List Of Trump Administration Officials Who Resigned Over Rioting At Capitol Hill pixabay

Former US President Donald Trump blasted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and called him a “dumb son of a b***h” in front of Republican donors gathered at his Florida resort on Saturday night. While going through his prepared text during the Republican National Committee donor retreat, Trump veered away from his 50-minute speech to tear at McConnell for several minutes.

The event, which took place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in South Florida, was teeming with several hundred well-heeled GOP donors. The former POTUS ripped at McConnell saying he did not do enough to defend him during his impeachment trial last February.

"If that were (Senate Majority Leader Chuck) Schumer instead of this dumb son of a b**** Mitch McConnell they would never allow it to happen. They would have fought it," he said of election certification on Jan. 6, the day his supporters led an insurrection on the Capitol.

Trump’s rather vulgar lash at McConnell came in response when the latter chastized Trump for his role in the Jan. 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol. Although McConnell voted against convicting Trump in his impeachment trial earlier this year, Trump made it clear he did not do enough to protect him despite being ultimately acquitted, Politico reported.

Trump also went after McConnell’s wife, former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao who resigned from her cabinet post after the Jan. 6 siege at the Capitol.

This is not the first time Trump has torn at McConnell since leaving office. In February, Trump released an extensive bashing against McConnell for being “a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack.”

During his speech, he also expressed his disappointment as he came down at former Vice President Mike Pence and called last year’s presidential election a fraud while mocking Dr. Anthony Fauci, New York Daily News reported.

As the former president remained fixated on the “rigged” election results, he said he was disappointed with Pence for not doing more to stop the certification of the election. The former president has recently been seeking to boost his small-dollar fundraising apparatus, and is issuing a steady stream of endorsements for the 2022 midterm elections, as well as battles over state party chairmanships.

Several attendees said there was little response to Trump’s insults.
