Republican candidate Donald Trump closed out his campaign by repeatedly stating in several rallies across battleground states on Monday that the United States is an "occupied country", citing the presence of undocumented immigrants as a central issue.

During a busy last day of campaigning in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan, the Republican also vowed, once again, to implement the largest deportation program in U.S. history and claimed he would "rescue every city and town that has been invaded and conquered", according to CNN.

He also added that many cities and towns across the country don't like to say that this is happening in their municipalities because it is "bad publicity" and people will not move into that town or city;

"It's New York and Chicago and Los Angeles, but it will soon be an occupied country no longer. It's not going to take long. You know, these guys come in. They're vicious, violent and like military age. But they have military-quality equipment, military-quality guns."

Trump pointed to specific locations, such as an apartment complex in Colorado and Haitian migrant communities in Ohio, to argue that cities and towns across the country have been impacted by what he called a "military invasion without the uniforms."

He went on to vow to increase Border Patrol hiring, resume construction on the border wall, and reinstate the "Remain in Mexico" policy. Trump also called for stricter policies, such as targeting migrant gangs, banning sanctuary cities, and even seeking the death penalty for any migrant convicted of killing a U.S. citizen.

During his stop in Pennsylvania, Trump also brought out alleged victims of illegal immigrants, including Patty Morin, the mother of Rachel Morin, who was killed in August 2023 allegedly by an illegal immigrant who had previously committed crimes.

"There is a proverb and the proverb says when a righteous man reigns, the people rejoice, but when wickedness reigns, the people mourn, and it has been four years of our country mourning because of the hardships that have been inflicted on us that are unnecessary," Ms. Morin said.
