Two women reportedly died after a truck driver lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into them while they were walking on a sidewalk in Melbourne, Florida on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
The two female victims, identified as 26-year-old Megan Taylor Grace, and 25-year-old Rikki Brianna Grace, were both walking on the sidewalk along the east side of the roadway in the area of Front Street between New Haven Ave. and Melbourne Ave. on Tuesday, Oct. 18. While they were walking along the sidewalk, the driver of a Ford Pickup truck lost control of the vehicle, FOX 35 Orlando reported.
The pickup truck then left the roadway, crossed onto the sidewalk and hit the pedestrians. The driver of the pickup truck has been identified as 29-year-old Robert Mitchell Lueck of Satellite Beach.
Following the crash, officers were alerted about the incident. When the officers responded to the scene, they reportedly discovered two women with life-threatening injuries. The victims were immediately rushed to Holmes Regional Medical Center for treatment. However, Rikki, who worked as a teacher at Imagine West Melbourne, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Megan reportedly underwent treatment for two days and succumbed to her injuries on Thursday, Oct. 20 morning, WESH 2 News reported.
Following the tragic accident, Imagine Schools made the tragic announcement on Facebook.
"It is with great sadness that we are mourning the death of Miss Rikki Grace, who was fatally struck by a car last night. Miss Grace worked at Imagine West Melbourne as our third-grade teacher. She was a valued member of our Imagine West Melbourne community for three years and made a lasting impression in the lives of our students. Her death is a tragic loss to her family and our Imagine community. Our hearts are broken for this loss, and for Miss Grace’s family. Our thoughts are with them at this time, and with all of our students and staff who are saddened by her passing," they wrote on Facebook.
