The federal website doge.gov, created to track Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has been exposed as insecure and editable by the public, leading to online mockery and questions about its credibility.

The website was launched as part of Musk's push for transparency in federal spending and workforce reductions. Since its unveiling in January, the site remained largely empty until Musk announced Tuesday that DOGE would publish its actions both on X and on the newly built website.

However, web developers quickly discovered major security flaws, revealing that the site pulls data from an unprotected database that allows unauthorized modifications, 404 Media reported.

On Thursday, independent coders exploited the vulnerability, adding public messages such as "this is a joke of a .gov site" and "THESE 'EXPERTS' LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN -roro."

The edits remained visible for hours, raising concerns about the site's security. Experts noted that the website appears to be hosted on Cloudflare Pages rather than a government server, calling into question DOGE's cybersecurity practices.

Meanwhile, another Musk-linked site, waste.gov, was also found to be unsecured earlier in the week, prompting officials to lock it down.

DOGE has yet to publicly respond to the security concerns, and it remains unclear whether immediate action will be taken to secure doge.gov.
