Real Madrid may have failed to take in a couple of big stars in the recent transfer window although all is not lost. It may be a blessing in disguise for Los Blancos.
Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain and Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund are two players who are available at the end of the season. Unless both get new deals somewhere along the way, Real Madrid could swoop in and add them to the fray, Marca reported.
Just recently, there were reports that the 22-year-old may push for a move to Los Blancos. Josep Pedreol made the suggestion and it appears the reason behind this is the coming of Cristiano Ronaldo.
PSG is reluctant to hold talks with Real Madrid but all that could change if Mbappe instigates it.
The French player was focused on helping France in the World Cup qualifiers recently before he was forced to withdraw due to a calf injury. The striker felt pain in his calf during France’s home draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, Sept. 1, AFP reported.
His withdrawal means that between injuries and Covid-19, Mbappe will have missed 10 of France’s last 26 games. France remains top of Group D but the withdrawal of the 22-year-old player may be telling on their chances moving forward.
But the injury may also be telling on the level of interest that Real Madrid has in the French footballer.
As far as Haaland, he could be available at the end of the season for Real Madrid’s picking. He may be available for £64 million ($88.6 million) and holds a release clause in his current contract with Borussia Dortmund.
It will be recalled that several teams took interest in Haaland this summer. That included Manchester City and Chelsea FC. Both did not complete their move but may also try again next transfer window, hopefully at a more affordable price.
As far as Real Madrid is concerned, that potential revived interest by the Citizens and the Blues could hinder their chase for the Norwegian striker. Mbappe appears to be the only one close to getting acquired unless some new development happens this season.
