The past Le Mans weekend proved to be particularly trying for the returning Toyota racing team.

With still 19 hours to go on the iconic race, the #8 Toyota TS030 Hybrid driven by Anthony Davidson gets violently taken out by the slower GTE-Amateur #81 Ferrari 458 Italia of Pierguiseppe Perazzini along the Mulsanne straight. Flying into the barrier, Davidson and Toyota prematurely ended their contention for victory.

Emerging from the wreck, Anthony Davidson hobbled before collapsing on the side of the track. Taken away for medical attention, doctors assured that Davidson was in stable condition but it was later revealed from x-rays and tests that Davidson suffered from fractures to the T11 and T12 vertebrae.

In the latest, the Daily Mail announced that Anthony Davidson is now ready to return home for continued rehabilitation. After four nights under observation, 33-year-old former F1 driver flies back to his home in England, where he tweeted himself lying on the stretcher with a big grin and a thumbs-up before boarding an airplane.

Davidson tweets, "Home time today! Le Mans airport to Oxford via medical plane. You've been cruel once again Le Mans, but I'll stand on your top step one day"
