A long and exciting season on the PGA Tour will come to a close this weekend in Georgia as the top 30 players in the world compete in the 2013 Tour Championship. With a total of $1,400,000 going to the Tour Championship winner, each player competing in the final leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs will also have a chance to win the grand prize of $10 million. Whoever ranks as the top player in the FedEx Cup Standings at the end of the Tour Championship will earn the honor of FedEx Cup Champion while also bringing home the top financial prize on tour.
Heading into the season's final event, the top 5 golfers in the FedEx Cup Standings can really make the chase for the $10 million simple with victories. If any one of the first 5 earn a win at The Tour Championship, they will automatically capture the 2013 FedEx Cup Championship and the highly coveted financial prize. The FedEx Cup Playoffs began in 2007 and since that time, current World No. 1 golfer Tiger Woods has won the most titles, with his championships coming in the inaugural season and again in 2009. Vijah Singh (2008), Jim Furyk (2010), Bill Haas (2011) and Brandt Snedeker (2012) round out the brief yet talented list of winners to walk away with the Tour's top honor in the seven-year history of this great system.
