It has been a difficult month for the BBC. Last week, the BBC officially announced that Jeremy Clarkson's contract will not be renewed after his countless years of service as a presenter on "Top Gear."
On Tuesday morning, reports revealed that "Top Gear" executive producer Andy Wilman privately shared an email to the Top Gear staff with a Subject titled "Au revoir."
"At least we left 'em wanting more," Wilman wrote in the Top Gear email. "And that alone, when you think about it, is quite an achievement for a show that started 13 years ago.
"We had a lot of laughs, we had a lot of tiffs. We went to amazing places and we went to some s***holes. We nearly killed a presenter, we had to run for the border."
Despite a subject title that clearly means "good bye," Andy Wilman denies he is leaving BBC and "Top Gear." Instead, he clarifies that the email is a "thank you" to all the crew and members involved in the making of "Top Gear" and a look back at the end of an extremely successful era that only ended with Clarkson's departure.
"For those of you who still rely on it for work, don't worry, because the BBC will make sure the show continues," Wilman wrote. "Our stint as guardians of 'Top Gear' was a good one, but we were only part of the show's history, not the whole of it. Those two words are bigger than us."
Now that we have reported that "Top Gear" will continue on the BBC, we bring our attention to the three remaining episodes of "Top Gear" Season 22. According to reports , Andy Wilman is working alongside BBC2 controller Kim Shillinglaw to salvage the content from the final three episodes and prepare the segments for broadcast.
Stay tuned as we hope to learn more about the status of the three remaining episodes of Season 22 as well as the future of the "Top Gear" franchise as a whole.
