The lead conservative behind the Project 2025 manifesto is denying the "patently untrue" allegation that he once told colleagues and dinner guests about how he brutally killed his neighbor's dog with a shovel two decades ago, according to a report.

Kevin Roberts, who currently serves as the President of The Heritage Foundation, reportedly admitted to killing his neighbor's pitbull around 2004 because the dog's loud barking was keeping his family awake.

"My recollection of his account was that he was discussing in the hallway with various members of the faculty, including me, that a neighbor's dog had been barking pretty relentlessly and was, you know, keeping the baby and probably the parents awake and that he kind of lost it and took a shovel and killed the dog. End of problem," said Kenneth Hammond, Professor of History at New Mexico State University, where Roberts used to work.

Roberts' dinner guests were reportedly unsettled by his admission and did not question him about the incident further.

"I think that probably people were not eager to engage with him over this. It sounded like a pretty crazy thing to do and people didn't want to get into it at that point," Hammond continued.

Roberts provided a statement to the Guardian denying having ever killed a dog with a shovel.

"This is a patently untrue and baseless story backed by zero evidence. In 2004, a neighbor's chained pit bull attempted to jump a fence into my backyard as I was gardening with my young daughter. Thankfully, the owner arrived in time to restrain the animal before it could get loose and attack us." said Roberts

However, he neglected to answer questions about why multiple people stated he had told them he committed the grisly killing.

Roberts is a staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump and has led conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation since 2021. The organization established Project 2025 in 2022, a largely unpopular conservative political initiative aiming to promote right-wing values and even restructure the United States' federal government. It has received widespread criticism for implementing what is believed to be an extreme conservative agenda, and severely impacting personal liberty.
