T.J. Lane appeared in court on Tuesday morning for sentencing following a conviction for killing three students at an Ohio high school in a shooting rampage last year. The now 18-year-old, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
His apparent disrespect for the families of his victims and his total lack of remorse was a factor in Judge David L. Fuhry's reasoning for the harsh life sentence.
After pleading guilty to three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of felonious assault.
Lane appeared in a Chardon court Tuesday morning wearing a male dress shirt but quickly removed his appropriate wear, to reveal a white T-shirt with the word "KILLER" scrawled across it in permanent marker. The see the shirt, click here.
Going against the recommendation of his lawyers, Lane addressed the courtroom before learning his fate. He addressed the victims families and said "F*** all of you, and then proceeded to gave the courtroom the middle finger.
On Feb. 27, 2012, Lane, then 17, entered Chardon High School, where he was enrolled as a student and opened fire in the cafeteria, killing Daniel Parmertor and Demetrius Hewlin, both 16, and Russell King Jr., 17. Three other students were wounded.
Lane received three life sentences without the possibility of parole. Because he was a juvenile at the time of the incident, Lane could not face the death penalty.
