Through the past three seasons, “Titans” has undoubtedly focused more on the Bat-Family. There were familiar characters that took center stage, led no less by Dick Grayson or Nightwing (Brenton Thwaites).
However, it appears all that is subject to change soon with the casting of Titus Welliver who will portray Lex Luthor.
This should provide a different twist from the past seasons of “Titan.” Each time the name of Luthor appears, there is no question that Superman (or Superboy in this case) will be the first thing that will come to the mind of viewers.
And there is a back story to consider as well. Recall that before he joined the Titans, Kon-El or Conner Kent was teased in the season one finale and officially debuted in season 2.
He ended up getting hunted by the assistants of Lex Luthor and bodyguard Mercy Graves. Conner Kent was aided by a genetically modified dog in Krypto and both ended up joining the Titans.
In season 3, the story focused more on the Bat-man universe characters, Dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne and Jason Todd. Most of the other heroes were set aside, coming in only when needed.
Fast-forward to season 4, the casting of Luthor indicates more scenes involving the villain and Superboy. But through it all, it is possible that Conner could end up in a situation where he would have to choose between reuniting with Luthor or fighting him alongside the Titans.
There is no telling as well if there will be Superman appearances or characters related to the Man of Steel. But with superhuman strength in play, the coming season should be pretty interesting and may take the combined efforts of the Titans against Luthor and other cohorts to fend off the superpowered threats and wits from Lex Luthor.
“Titans” season 4 is set to debut on HBO Max on Nov 22.
