Denver police arrested Faustino Ibarra for theft this week when his family discovered a custom 1996 Chevy Impala SS parked outside their humble Denver, Colorado, home.
According to the Denver authorities, Faustino Ibarra had stolen the vehicle from a Los Angeles garage before driving it cross country. Here's where it gets a little weird - that stolen custom Impala SS belongs to the one and only funny comedian, star of "Home Improvement," and ultra car guy Tim Allen.
As the very last B-body sports sedan, the '96 Impala SS has a tremendous cult following. However, there's something lurking underneath Tim's SS that makes it that much more special. According to Allen's website (take a look at his other cars too), his custom SS "holds a DOHC 32-valve Corvette ZR1 engine and delivers 446 hp at 5500 rpm." Yes, it's THAT Lotus-tuned 'C4' Corvette ZR1 engine. Make no mistake - this is Tim Allen's favorite personal daily driver.
Held in custody without bail, 34-year-old Faustino Ibarra adamantly denies there was any crime. In fact, Ibarra claims to be Tim Allen's adopted son and that the comedian had left his garage open along with his keys.
Speaking with the police, Ibarra said, "I emailed Tim, told him everything is fine, the car's in perfect shape ... He left the door open and he left me the keys so I could get the car and take it to Denver ... My dad loves the heck out of me. He's ultra-proud of me and he wants to see the best for me in every way."
Could Tim Allen really have an adopted son? So far, Tim Allen has not reported the vehicle stolen and Tim Allen's rep told E! News that this was a police matter and couldn't "comment on it further."
