Jess Darrington's TikTok @where.is.briggs is full of tips for traveling with kids under four. The frequent flyer and mother of two shared one now-viral video labeled, "Airplane seating hack that sometimes works."
When booking her family of four seats on a flight from Amsterdam to Salt Lake City, Darrington took a risk. She booked two aisle seats and two window seats, leaving the middle seat available in hopes that the space would remain unbooked.
Lucky for Darrington, her plan worked out. The TikTok, which now has 8.2 million views, shows her infant and toddler fast asleep, sprawled out across their respective two-seats.
Over the peaceful passengers in Darrington's viral video, text reads, "No one booked the middle seats so we had two rows to ourselves for an 11 hour flight!"
Commenters were skeptical of the creator's good luck.
The top reply, 'liked' by 78.1K viewers, reads, "I honestly can't stand when people do this and then expect me to move or switch seats."
Another popular reply said,"I'd be the guy refusing to move from the middle just to prove a point."
"I take about 80 flights x yr and all of them are completely full with a standby list," replied another user, echoing many comments questioning how often this hack would actually work.
Darrington must have anticipated at least some of the feedback. Beneath the "Airplane seating hack that sometimes works," video, her caption read. "Key word is 'sometimes'."
