Tigres come into the 2014 Liga MX Apertura final on a fourteen game unbeaten streak. They have been the hottest club in Mexico over the past two months, and with their confidence at an all time high, Las Vegas is backing them in their first leg match against America at the Estadio Unversitario on Thursday.
Both teams finished the regular season tied for first with 31 points each. America was technically awarded the first place seed for the regular season with one more win overall, but oddsmakers believe that both teams are as evenly matched as possible. The game is a pick em’ with the slightest of odds going to Tigres the home team in the first leg, as they play just on the outskirts of Monterrey in the state of Nuevo Leon.
Club America is seeking a Liga MX record 12th title as they currently stand tied with Chivas Guadalajara with 11, the most of any other team in Mexico. America is coming off a 3-0 aggregate score against Monterrey Rayados last week. All three goals were scored in the first leg, a road game played in Monterrey just miles away from where the first game of the Apertura final will be held tonight. Needless to say, America is capable of scoring in this one and pulling off the upset.
It’s interesting to note that the Draw line is at +200 while each of the straight money line bets are on the plus side. This tends to hint that the oddsmakers in Vegas believe that the match could finish in a draw. The over/under line is heavily favoring the under which is set at 2.5 goals. An alternate line posted on gambling site, www.bovada.lv has the over/under set at one total goal.
We agree with the oddsmakers and would not be surprised to see a 0-0 draw in the first leg. It’s possible if you read the line movement in Vegas that Tigres wins the opener 1-0 or a 1-1 draw.
