It's no secret to those who follow the sport of professional golf closely that PGA Tour stars Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia simply do not get along.

At The Players Championship two weeks ago, the relationship - or lack thereof - between Woods and Garcia advanced to another level after Garcia said Woods distracted him while he was attempting a shot during the tournament's Third Round.

As Garcia was in the fairway and in the middle of his swing, Tiger Woods pulled a club out of his bag that drew a large vocal reaction from the gallery surrounding the 14-time major champion. Upset that Tiger didn't wait for him to hit, Garcia voiced his displeasure following the round.

"You have to pay attention to what's going on because the other guy is hitting," Garcia said to ESPN television. "You do something when you're in the crowd and the crowd is going to respond."

In an effort to clear himself of any wrongdoing, Woods noted that he received the okay to begin his pre-shot routine because he had been told Garcia already played his shot.

"The marshals, they told me he already hit," Woods said to ESPN. "So I pulled a club and was getting ready to play my shot. I hear Garcia's comments afterward and it's not real surprising that he's complaining about something."

Even though The Players Championship concluded on May 12th - with Woods winning his second Players title - conversations centering around the distaste the tour pros have for one another remains a fresh topic of discussion.

When Woods was asked by reporters if he'd sought Garcia out to clear the air following their verbal scuffle at the Players, the No. 1 player in the world didn't offer much as a response.

"No," Woods simply said to ESPN reporters from the Congressional Country Club during media day for the June AT&T National tournament.

While Woods was short and concise with his response to the media regarding the situation, Sergio Garcia was much more open to discussing the negative bond the two golfers have shared for the past 15 tour seasons.

"He called me a whiner. He's probably right," Garcia said to Golf.com. "But that's also probably the first thing he's told you guys that's true in 15 years. I know what he's like. You guys are finding out."

When asked if he'd reach out to Tiger by phone or text message to repair the situation, Garcia noted that he's not going out of his way to contact Woods because he feels he did nothing wrong.

"First of all, I don't have his number. And secondly, I did nothing wrong and don't have anything to say to him, and he wouldn't pick up the phone anyway," Garcia said according to the Washington Post. "I don't need him as a friend. I don't need him in my life to be happy and that's fine. It's as simple as that."

It obviously doesn't appear as though Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia will repair their damaged relationship anytime soon and perhaps that's for the better.

Garcia has certainly shown the ability to contend in tournaments this season while Woods continues to rip through the 2013 schedule, sitting comfortably atop the World Golf Rankings while winning 4 times in 7 tour events this season.
