This past Wednesday, Tesla announced on its website, "United States Signature Series reservations are sold out. A wait list is available to all reservation holders. Please email us at RESERVATIONS@TESLAMOTORS.COM for more information."

Only days after the announcement that the Tesla Model S Signature had sold its lot, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is already expressing a great deal of confidence on the future of his company, according to LeftLaneNews. In fact, Musk expects to see a rapid climb in sales growth to more than 20,000 vehicle sales for 2013.

In the meantime, the Tesla Model S is exclusively distributed in the United States. In another six months, availability will expand to Europe and Japan as well. China sales are scheduled to begin in 2013, while right-hand-drive vehicles will be scheduled for production by the middle of 2013.

In terms of sales strategy, Tesla hopes to attract a wider market by providing consumers with the option to lease its electric vehicles as well, a popular plan for a good amount of luxury car buyers.

According to Musk, "We may see an even greater proportion of our cars leased. The best way to see the cost advantage is through leasing. That way you can see the total monthly cost to operate a [Tesla] car versus a gasoline car."

In addition to vehicle sales, Elon Musk is also seeing a bulk of its business coming from battery pack supplier contracts with other automakers. AutoGuide reports that Tesla's partnership with Toyota for the RAV4 EV is likely to expand, and a rumored arrangement with Daimler will be larger than all previous partnerships combined.

Finally, according to Automotive News, Tesla is counting on an 8 to 10 percent annual improvement in both cost reduction as well as energy density over the next several years.

Of course, Tesla's growth projections doesn't just stop at 2013. In fact, the company anticipates an even loftier 35,000 sales target when its Model X all-electric crossover debuts in 2014.

Official Tesla Model S delivery will begin on June 22, 2012, just two week's time.
