It would be rare for anyone to capture when lightning would strike. There have been reports in the past, including that one where a boy was hit by it while playing football.

Now there is a new case of a family of five whose car was struck by lightning near Waverly, Kansas. The incident happened on June 25. But even more shocking is the fact that the whole incident was captured on camera by another car following them.

Carl Hobi was part of the vehicle behind the car that was struck by lightning at that time. A video shot of that can be seen below.

The vehicle reportedly had five people on board, including a three-year-old and eight-month-old child. Rain was heavily falling at that time on the highway when lightning struck the black SUV. None of the passengers were harmed and all got away unscathed.

“They were in shock and the first thing they did was make sure the kids were okay and they were relieved that everyone was just fine. The car was dead and stuck in gear and we could not get it in to [sic] neutral to push off the road. It will most likely be considered totaled,” Hobi said in a report from Newsweek.

The video has since gone viral leaving viewers stunned. Until it was reported that the family survived the lightning strike, most were immediately concerned about the well-being of everyone in the vehicle.

However, some even took the opportunity to joke about it. One quipped: ”Recharged. Elon Mask at work.”

The car was not as lucky as the passengers. Hobi shared how the car went dead and that they were unable to put it on neutral so they could push it off the road.

"The car was dead and stuck in gear and we could not get it in to [sic] neutral to push off the road. It will most likely be considered Totaled," he stated.
