A Tennessee man has been sentenced to two months in federal prison for using a drone to deliver marijuana to an inmate at a federal correctional facility in Mississippi.
Mark Anderson, 50, was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release following his prison term, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Court documents obtained by WJTV reveal that on October 2, 2021, Anderson used a drone to transport 195 grams of marijuana over the Federal Correctional Complex in Yazoo City. The drone released the package from the air, allowing an inmate to retrieve it.
Anderson pleaded guilty to the charge on September 26, 2024.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations.
