Episode 178 has Victor (Alejandro Avila) and Nadia (Alejandra Garcia) warning Montserrat (Boyer) that Pedro Medina (Sergio Sendel) might not be dead as they originally thought. A young man arrives at the "fonda" where Dominga (Alejandra Procuna) works and tells her he is Macario's (Juan Carlos Barreto) son. Montserrat is having lunch with her kids and José Luis (Luis Roberto Guzmán) shows up. Alejandro (Sebastián Rulli) calls her and JL picks up the phone, making him irate and jealous. JL tells Alejandro Montserrat invited him to lunch, which is a load of lies. Montserrat still can't forgive her mother for everything she has done to her, but is going to take her in. Pedro Medina gets a hold of Adolfito, kidnaps him and tortures him. Is this his end?

Episode 177 Graciela (Daniela Castro) is in the hospital and is sad because her sister Carlota (Gaby Rivero) wants to kick her out of her house. Dimitrio (Osvaldo Benavides) informs his mother that she is registered under her real name, Gaudencia Jimenez. Graciela begs Montserrat (Angelique Boyer) to not leave her alone. Alejandro (Sebastián Rulli) tells Montse that José Luis (Luis Roberto Guzmán) has hired a lawyer to take full custody of their daughter Romina. The doctor checks up on Graciela and orders an MRI to make sure everything is ok. Victor (Alejandro Avila) voices his concerns to Dimitrio, about his belief that Pedro Medina (Sergio Sendel) is alive.

The doctor reveals to Montserrat and Alejandro that Graciela has a tumor in hear head and it's already in stage four, meaning that it's terminal and their is not much they can do to reverse it. The doctor tells a distraught Montse that she has less than a year of life. Graciela finds out and begs Montserrat not to abandon her if she ever loved her. Montserrat suggests she hire help so they can take care of her. Montserrat tells Alejandro that it's difficult for her to express her love towards Graciela due to all the harm she has caused, but she doesn't have the heart to abandon her. Alejandro informs Rosario that Graciela will be living with them. Dimitrio confronts José Luis about Pedro Medina, which he completely denies. Refugio is upset at JL, because he feels that he is pushing him aside after all the years of friendship.
