For fans looking forward to "Tekken X Street Fighter," it looks like the wait is going to be longer than anticipated. New information recently revealed states that the title is currenlty on hold.
In a recent interview with GameSpot, "Tekken" producer Katsuhiro Harada finally explained the situation with the forthcoming title. When asked about the status of "Tekken X Street Fighter" he said:
"That’s a difficult question to answer. When we develop fighting games, we try to keep the core community in mind as well as the wider audience that wants to play these games. But currently the situation is with fighting games, you have Street Fighter V that just released – a lot of people are playing that fervently – and there’s a large crowd out there waiting or Tekken 7. We don’t want to split these communities, so a good window in which to release Tekken X Street Fighter is something that’s become difficult recently. So it’s on hold for the moment."
While Harada's comments don't bring any hope for fans looking to get the game in the near future, it is not a complete let down. There is hope that "Tekken X Street Fighter" will see the light of day. Harada goes on to say the title has seen quite the development in the past.
"It might seem like we haven't started on it at all, but the character lineup has been decided upon since a very long time ago," Harada told GameSpot. "And we've already finished the polygon models, moves, and systems."
The game was announced back in 2010 at San Diego Comic-Con by Harada. The gameplay for "Tekken X Street Fighter" will share the same 3D fighting game engine of the "Tekken" franchise as opposed to the 2012 title "Street Fighter X Tekken," which featured the 2D style found on "Street Fighter IV."
